The Cadillac CT4 is a luxury sedan that was first introduced in the 2020 model year, and it's been drawing drivers in with its stylish exterior, lush interior, and wide array of tech features ever since. While the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trims have a lot going for them, those looking for an extra edge in performance will want to check out the V-Series. This upgrade—which includes the CT4-V and CT4-V Blackwing—gives drivers all of the luxury and style of the CT4 with an extra boost of power and thrilling driving dynamics.
We’re proud to offer both versions of the Cadillac CT4-V for sale here at Cadillac of Manhattan. These are impeccable performance cars that are sure to impress everyday drivers and auto enthusiasts alike—but how do you choose between them? Let's take a look at the unique strengths of each and help you figure out which is a better fit for your lifestyle...
Power & Performance
All V-Series models are built with performance in mind, and the CT4 is no exception. Both 2024 CT4-V models feature the latest generation of GM’s Magnetic Ride Control adaptive suspension system, which reacts near-instantly to road conditions so you can have a smooth ride no matter what. Both feature Brembo performance front brakes (though only the Blackwing has rear Brembo brakes) and a drive mode selector with performance traction management and launch control, using the latest tech to adapt to any situation. The Blackwing takes this system up a notch with a custom launch control and line lock, allowing the front brakes to lock independently of the rear ones for a higher degree of control.
When it comes to the powertrain, though, the CT4-V and CT4-V Blackwing diverge in a big way. The 2.7L Dual-Volute Turbocharged engine that comes standard on the CT4-V is an upgrade from the 237-hp 2.0L engine of the original CT4. With its turbo-four under the hood, the CT4-V can produce up to 325 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque—power enough to achieve performance feats like going from zero to sixty in as little as 4.8 seconds and reaching a top track speed of 156 mph.
If that sounds like a lot of power, hold onto your hat, because the Blackwing’s 3.6L Twin-Turbo V6 is even more impressive, delivering 472 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. That shaves a full second off of the car’s zero-to-sixty time, bringing it down to an exceptional 3.8. The Blackwing can also reach speeds of up to 189 mph on the track. If you want to learn how to harness that power, you can take advantage of the Cadillac V-Performance Academy, a two-day performance driving finishing school that comes with the purchase or lease of a new Blackwing.
The Blackwing comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, which lets you really connect with the vehicle and achieve a high level of control. The ten-speed automatic transmission that comes standard on the CT4-V is also an available option on the Blackwing. If you have the automatic on either vehicle, you’ll get a set of alloy paddle shifters that let you have the best of both worlds. Overall, if you’re looking for the greatest possible performance, you’ll want the Blackwing.
Fuel Efficiency
The kind of power you get from the Blackwing does come at a cost: fuel efficiency. The CT4-V Blackwing is rated at 15 MPG for city driving and 23 MPG on the highway; this gives you a city cruising range of 255 miles and a highway cruising range of 391 miles, which is enough for you to get a good amount of driving in before you have to pull over for gas.
The classic CT4-V does better in this category, granting a city-driving fuel economy rating of 20 MPG and a highway rating of 29 MPG; this lets you cruise through the city for a comfortable 340 miles or an impressive 493 miles on the highway before you have to stop for fuel. That’s a big difference, considering that both models have the same 17-gallon fuel tank capacity. This is due in part to the CT4-V’s more efficient powertrain and lighter curb weight. If you’re thinking of going on long trips in your car and don’t want to have to stop for gas too often, then you might want to go for the classic CT4-V.
Interior Comfort
As luxury vehicles, both the CT4-V and the CT4-V Blackwing have lush interiors that have a high-class look and feel, with quality materials and detail-oriented designs. Both have plenty of extra touches that make driving more comfortable, like dual-zone automatic climate control and standard memory settings that allow up to two drivers to save their seat and outside mirror settings. Both also have available upgrades like ventilated front seats that can make the cabin even nicer to spend time in in the warmer months.
However, there are some ways in which the Blackwing outshines the CT4-V. The Cold Weather package—which includes heated front seats and a heated steering wheel—is available on the CT4-V but comes standard on the Blackwing, so you can cruise through the coldest days of winter without getting chilly. If you want to bring your interior to the next level, you can opt for the available high-performance front bucket seats on the Blackwing, which can’t be had on the classic CT4-V. These seats are designed to give you lateral support during thrilling drives and are highly adjustable so all kinds of drivers can get their settings just right. Side and seatback bolster adjustments help to displace and direct force during high-speed rides around the track—so when it comes to interior comfort, the Blackwing goes the extra mile.
Tech Features
Both of the CT4 V-Series models have a full array of standard tech features, like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a wireless phone charging pad that work together to let you leave behind cable clutter. However, when it comes to tech, the CT4-V has some advantages over the Blackwing. A rotary infotainment controller—which allows you to use a tactile knob to control your settings—is standard on the CT4-V but optional on the Blackwing; the same is true of remote start and adaptive cruise control.
There are also some features that are available on the CT4-V but can’t be had at all on the Blackwing. These include HD Surround Vision, which uses a digital camera to show you the area around your vehicle to help you park without getting any dings or scratches; the Surround Vision Recorder, which lets you record, store, and playback your HD Surround Vision video; and Super Cruise, which enables you to drive hands-free on compatible roads and incorporates advanced features like automatic lane change and lane change on demand. If any of these features are must-haves for you, you’ll want to go with the classic CT4-V.
So, Which Is Better?
Both of these vehicles are outstanding luxury-performance sedans. Either one is sure to satisfy your need for speed as well as your aesthetic sensibilities—and that takes some of the pressure off since you can rest assured you’ll get a high-quality car no matter which model you choose. At the end of the day, it all comes down to your priorities.
If you’re looking for a well-balanced performance car that has plenty of great tech features, then you should probably lean toward the CT4-V. If you want the highest stats and a suite of performance features that go above and beyond, then it’s worth upgrading to the Blackwing. Whichever is right for you, we can help you get behind the wheel of your dream car in no time here at Cadillac of Manhattan.
